FoodBase was born from a simple observation: restaurants in Nigeria deserve better technology to run their business efficiently and serve customers excellently.
In 2021, our founders were working with several restaurant owners across Lagos and observed a common problem: despite their incredible food and service, most restaurants were struggling with operational inefficiencies. They were managing orders through WhatsApp, tracking inventory on paper, manually calculating payments, and losing track of which dishes were popular.
One founder's family restaurant was particularly affected. During the pandemic, they attempted digital transformation but found existing solutions were either too expensive, too complicated, or simply not designed for the Nigerian market. That's when the idea crystallized: create a platform specifically built for Nigerian restaurants that is affordable, easy to use, and tailored to their unique needs.
FoodBase was launched in early 2022 with the first 10 restaurant partners. Within the first year, we had grown to over 200 active restaurants. Today, we're proud to serve thousands of restaurants across Nigeria, processing millions of orders and billions in naira in transactions annually.
